Other Essential Info
EVENTS
All events are held at, and operated on track, by the Eastern Creek Karts ('The Facility').
KARTS
All karts are supplied, setup, fueled and maintained by The Facility. Each karts is powered by a 13hp 4 stroke engine, capable of up to approx 95km/h.
Whilst they are built and serviced to the same specifications, karts can and do vary due to wide ranging factors which can affect their performance - including your body weight. Inasmuch as racing involves some 'luck', karts which are supplied and allocated to drivers at each event are the 'luck of the draw' - some will be slightly faster than average, and some will be slower than average. Making the most of the kart that drivers are given is all part of the challenge. Of course, should a kart generate a fault/failure during an event, at the discretion of the Facility a replacement may be provided, or mid-race repair of the kart can be performed.
The Organisers will not be held responsible for any damage to karts inflicted by any driver, be it deliberate or accidental. Note that The Facility may levy a repair cost to any individual directly if it is deemed they are responsible for the damage.
TIMING SYSTEM
Each kart is fitted with a transponder which is linked to a timing system, recording all lap times of all karts. If for whatever reason the timing system fails, the Facility/Organisers reserves the right to pause racing to correct a fault. They also reserve the right to restart a round and ignore times and places in a previous/incomplete round.
RESULTS, TIMES & DECISIONS
All results, recorded times and any decisions made by the facility or the organisers during the event are not open for dispute. Just let it go.
RACE DAYS & WEATHER
Race events are held on a Thursday night, in dry weather only. Should inclement weather prevail, the Organisers reserve the right to change events to an alternative date at any time, even if the event is already underway.
RACE GEAR
The Facility provides complimentary overalls, helmets and gloves which are mandatory. All drivers must bring their own shoes or boots which must be appropriate for racing - eg no thongs or sandals (as if!). Drivers with their own gear are encouraged to bring them along. Helmets must be full face and must be fitted with non-tinted visors.
ALCOHOL
There is a zero tolerance of alcohol for any event. Karting - as with any form of motor racing - can be dangerous, and as such the Organisers and The Facility will immediately remove a competitor from the event if they are considered to be affected by alcohol (and/or any drugs), and/or are proven to have any level of alcohol via a breath test. The Organisers reserve the right to breath test any competitor at any stage during an event.
DRIVING TECHNIQUES & BEHAVIOUR
At all times drivers must - at all costs - AVOID contact with another kart. Open wheel vehicles are particularly dangerous and are known to flip over in exceptional circumstances. Karts are easily damaged, and any type of contact whether deliberate or unintended can and will cause damage to the karts involved, as well as injury to drivers.
Being a novice event there will be varying levels of skills and speeds during a race. Those who are quicker must respect the driving style and driving line of slower karts. Patience is therefore a commendable virtue.
Whilst competitive racing and overtaking are the main challenge at each event, drivers are advised that unsportsmanlike behaviour such as deliberate swerving, blocking, baulking, 'crash braking' or otherwise can and will result in a black flag for the offending driver.
At all times drivers should remain in control of their kart. Whilst it is commonplace to lose control for varying reasons in racing conditions, should a driver repeatedly lose control they may be removed from the race for the safety of other drivers.
Any driver caught tampering with any part of a kart will be immediately disqualified from the event, and no refund will be given. The driver will also be put on probation for the following 12 months, and if disqualified from another SKS event in this period - for any reason - will be banned from participating in an SKS event for a period deemed appropriate by the organisers.
