Pottle Announces Wooden Kart for SKS

Low tech specialists Pottle Racing yesterday unveiled it's WOOD01 Racing Kart exclusively for the Sydney Karting Series, calling it "a great homage to our racing roots". However gossip at their testing facility somewhere in a dark forest is that it's not quite as good as they'd hoped.

Rumours have it that Technical Director/Head Carpenter Rusty Campbell was troubled by serious design challenges, not the least of which the 400kg curb weight and a severe lack of maneuverability - in a large part due to the kart's construction from laminated hardwood, and the lack of any steering mechanism.

There have also been reports that prototypes were falling apart during testing. A cost cutting measure of having all laminates simply "nailed at either end" seems to be the cause, although it's believed the kart has "increased flexibility when attempting to corner."
When test driver Patrice Swell was questioned about this issue he replied: "Well, who would have thought the chassis would succomb to delamination as well as the tyres?"

Pottle have already issued a statement saying that over 50 aerodynamic enhancements will be added to the WOOD01 in time for its debut at the next round of the SKS, most of which involving either a hammer, a chisel, or both.
